We have recently learned of the death of one of our long time members. Armella Thompson of Russell died on April 23. Armella had been a member of Memorial Park Golf Course at the time of her death. Prior to that she had belonged to Smoky Hills Country Club.

Congratulations to Megan Richards from Stilwell, KS for being this year’s recipient of the KWGA Scholarship. Megan will be graduating from Blue Valley High School and then will attend Kansas State University. She plans on majoring in Biomedical Engineering with aspirations of attending medical school. Megan has been on her high school golf team from 2009 – 2012 and was a golf team state finisher in 2011 and 2012. During her high school career she has received many awards and has been active in many organizations.

Entries will close on Wednesday, May 22 for the Senior and Super Senior Championship to be held on June 4 and 5 at Hesston Golf Course in Hesston.

KWGA Challenge Cup Series
This exciting new series of one day events is for the golfer who wants to add a little challenge to their golf game. Each venue was selected for location, scenic views, and variety of type of course. These events provide the chance to play with other players of similar skill levels. Each event is design to be played at championship yardages. Awards will be given to the low gross score in each flight and specialty prizes.
Senior and Super Senior Championship - June 4 & 5 - Hesston Golf Course, Hesston
Amateur and Open Championship - July 16, 17 & 18 - Auburn Hills Golf Course, Wichita
Tee Fore Two Championship - August 6, 7 & 8 - Willowbend Golf Course, Wichita
Fore State - August 1 & 2 - Twin Hills Country Club, Joplin, MO.
KWGA is aware of the many women golfers who play regularly on weekends but do not belong to a private club or public golf course as they cannot participate on the weekly golf days. These women golfers can join this Handicap Club and play at a variety of golf course, meet other women golfers and have a GHIN Handicap number.
