The Four State Junior Girls’ Team competition was held June 29th, 30th, July 1st, at the Leawood South CC in Leawood, KS with Missouri hosting.
The members of this year’s Kansas team were: Jordan Nixon from Salina, Lauren Falley from Topeka, Callie Kemmer from Wichita, Cassie Lowell from Concordia, and Taylor Fagan from Topeka. Cammrynn Stith from Wichita qualified but had other commitments.
The two day medalist was Catherine Dolan from Missouri with rounds of 75/77.
Individual scores for the Kansas golfers were: Jordan Nixon 79/84 – 163, Taylor Fagan 84/79 – 163, Callie Kemmer 87/79 – 166, Lauren Falley 85/86 – 171, and Cassie Lowell 86/85 –171. The winner this year was the Missouri team who shot 320/316 for a 636 two day total. Nebraska was second with a 330/316 (646), Kansas was third with 334/327 (661), and Iowa was fourth with a 346/325 (671).
On the first day of play, the girls followed 60 senior men competing for one spot in the USGA Senior Open Tournament so you can imagine the challenging pin placements.
Kansas will host the 2009 Girls’ 4-State competition to be which will be held at the site of the 1969 Four-State competition, Mission Hills Country Club in Kansas City.
