KWGA Junior Program

Our junior program encourages girls 18 & under (and current year high school graduates who have not yet turned 19) across the state to compete with girls of their age and/or caliber. We do follow the USGA rules at our events. At each event we teach the girls a few rules at the number one tee and at our rules meetings. On the course there are times where we help with rulings, and we do our best to make the events fun and stress-free, as well as fostering excellent competition. A handicap is not required to play in most of our junior events, although it is encouraged. KWGA offers free handicaps for juniors. You can obtain a handicap through your local club.

2010 KWGA Junior Tournaments:

Adult-Junior Tournament – May 1 (Sand Creek Station – Newton)

This two-person team event consists of a junior girl and an adult male or female golfer. Front-nine will be a Chapman format (both partners play a tee shot at every hole from their designated tee. Each player then plays their partner’s ball for the second shot. The team selects the ball they wish to continue with, and they play it alternately until it is holed.), and the back-nine will be scramble (Each player tees off on each hole; the better of the tee shots is selected and both players play their second shots from that spot; the better of the second shots is determined, then both play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.) Flights will depend upon number of golfers. Teams will be flighted based on front-nine score.
