2008 KWGA/Natasha Matson Fife Scholarship Recipient

2007 Scholarship Winner

We are pleased to announce recipient of the 2008 Natasha Matson Fife KWGA Scholarship award is Callie Kemmer.

Callie is the daughter of Mary Engleman Kemmer and Andy Kemmer, the granddaughter of the Englemans from Salina and says she began playing golf at about age 4.  She graduated from Wichita Independent School in May of 2008 with a GPA of 3.9 and has plans to attend Yale University and will be a member of the Lady Bulldogs golf team next fall.

Callie has played in almost 20 KWGA events, including her first tournament ever, a 9-hole event at McPherson when she was 10 years old.  She has competed in 6 KWGA Junior Championships and 3 KWGA Amateur Championships.

Her golf accomplishments are as follows:

  • Two-time Kansas State High School Class 1-2-3-4A State Champion
  • Two-time high school Regional Champion
  • Placed in 4 ‘top eleven’ finishes in American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Open Tournaments.
  • Won the ‘Big I” qualifier twice to earn the honor of representing Kansas at Purdue, Indiana in 2005 and Boise, Idaho in 2007
  • Finished 6th overall at the 2007 KWGA Women’s amateur in 2007, being the youngest player in the top 25
  • Won the Wichita City Girl’s Championship in 2007
  • Placed 2nd in the Jr. KWGA tournament in 2008.

Besides playing golf, Callie participated in numerous volunteer programs, having accumulated over 270 hours of community service. Her personal favorites were Flint Hills Therapeutic Riding Center and East Heights United Methodist Church where she manages the plastic bag recycling fundraiser. She is a member of National Honor Society and was recognized as a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist.
