2007 Scholarship Winner

The 2009 KWGA Natasha Matson Fife Scholarship recipient is Hannah Martin, a 2009 graduate of Salina High School South. She is the daughter of Bary and Sherry Martin and is a fourth generation golfer. Hannah says, “It’s not unusual for discussions at our family gatherings to center around some obscure golf ruling that one of us had experienced.” She has participated in KWGA tournaments since 2004 and won her age division in the KWGA Junior Girls State Championship in ‘06, ‘07 and ‘08. Hannah has consistently maintained honor roll status academically and also participated in swimming and basketball during her high school career. Hannah recently received the Salina South Kansas Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award at the Salina Honors Night Banquet.

Hannah is the 2008 winner of the Kansas District Optimist International Junior Golf Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. During her senior year she won the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division 1 Championship, the 5A Regional Championship, and finished second in the Kansas High School Championship. In 2008 Hannah qualified and participated in the Walmart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links logging a T-7th place finish with her Champions Tour partner, Bruce Vaught. She was also designated a First Tee Scholar by the National First Tee organization.

Hannah will be competing this summer in the KWGA Junior and Amateur championships and plans to attend Wichita State University in the Fall of 2009 where she will play golf for the Lady Shockers.
