Natasha Matson Fife Scholarship

The Kansas Women’s Golf Association annually awards a scholarship to a deserving young Kansas woman through the KWGA Natasha Matson Fife Scholarship program.

Applicants must be a Junior or Associate Member of KWGA. Applications are reviewed by the KWGA Scholarship committee.

The recipient of the scholarship will be invited to attend and be recognized at the KWGA Amateur Championship Tournament or the KWGA Jr. Championship Tournament.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Applicant must be a high school senior in good standing in a Kansas high school, or a graduate of a Kansas high school and currently attending an accredited college.
  2. Applicant must enroll as a full-time student (12 hours per semester).
  3. Applicant must be a Junior Associate, or Associate Member of KWGA.

Application procedure:

Applicant must submit the following information to the KWGA Scholarship chair by March 15th of the year she is applying.

  1. Completed KWGA Scholarship Application
  2. Proof of application  to an accredited college
  3. Official High School transcript.
  4. Three Letters of recommendation from: a teacher or administrator from the applicant’s high school alma mater; a person who knows the applicant as a result of the involvement with KWGA; and a person unrelated to the applicant.
  5. An essay, a one page essay describing why the applicant merits the KWGA Scholarship, how the applicant has benefited from golf or other sports program and explain the applicant’s goals.

Criteria for awarding scholarship:

The KWGA Scholarship will be based on the following criteria:

  • High School transcript
  • Leadership
  • Personal essay
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • KWGA  Regular or Junior membership
  • Honors and awards

MARGE MORRISON FUND

Any junior golfer qualifying for the USGA Junior Championship is eligible to receive reimbursable expenses up to $500 from this fund. Former Kansas and junior golfer, Patti Morrison French, has made this fund available to juniors while honoring her mother’s memory.
